About the route
Wayanad is about 75 km from Kozhikode, but the distance understates it: the road climbs the Thamarassery ghat through nine numbered hairpin bends, and the last stretch is slow. Allow around two and a half hours to Kalpetta, longer to Vythiri or Sulthan Bathery. Lorry traffic on the ghat can add significantly to that at peak times.
- Drop at Kalpetta, Vythiri, Meppadi or Sulthan Bathery
- Drivers experienced on the Thamarassery hairpins
- Viewpoint stop at the top of the ghat included
What's included
Your Calicut to Wayanad fare covers fuel, driver bata and AC, and we stop at the ghat viewpoint on the way up at no extra charge. Many travellers prefer an SUV or Innova for the bends, and we will quote both so you can compare.
- Fuel, driver bata and AC included
- Fixed all-inclusive fare agreed upfront
- Experienced local chauffeur
- Toll and parking shown separately, never hidden
- Ghat viewpoint stop included
Best time & tips
October to May is the comfortable window; the ghat road is at its most demanding during the monsoon, when landslips occasionally close sections and we may route via Kuttiady instead. Avoid starting the climb after dark if you can — the bends are unlit and lorry traffic is heavy.
Frequently asked questions
A sedan is ₹2,600 all-inclusive to Kalpetta and an Innova Crysta ₹4,100. Vythiri and Sulthan Bathery are a little further and quoted on request.
Around two and a half hours to Kalpetta via the Thamarassery ghat, though lorry traffic on the hairpins can add half an hour at busy times.
A sedan handles it fine, but an SUV, Ertiga or Innova Crysta is more comfortable on the nine hairpin bends, especially with a full car and luggage.
